BUSINESS ETHICS, SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

Proper application of business ethics is a must for the welfare of the society at large. To determine the difference between business ethics that is in the paper and its application in reality is the main objective of the study. The study is mainly explanatory in nature and based on reviewing of literature of different publication. To understand the business ethics and its application in society, the traditional as well as modern notion of nature of business, role of business to society and moral obligation of it to society have been discussed. Role of business to society ultimately has been considered as corporate responsibility to society. Corporation need to discharge three dimensional responsibilities that is ascertained in the study. These are: a) Good governance b) Corporate social responsibility and c) Accountability to environment. The study concludes these dimensions that there is confusion in the mind of businessmen of our country on the necessity of business ethics especially business responsibility. It is further concluded that the concerted effort of government as well as the business leaders is necessary to pervade the positive impact of corporate responsibility to society. To remove the confusion on the necessity of corporate responsibility to society, the study has outlined some guidelines which may be useful for the businessmen, industrialist as well as the policy implementing authority concerned.
